Key Features:

Steps to Immigration
Most internationally trained physicians recruited to Ontario begin practice on a temporary, employer-specific work permit and later pursue Permanent Residency (PR).
Your community physician recruiter can assist with the work permit process and help identify potential immigration pathways.

Licensing in Ontario
Ontario offers several pathways to licensure for family physicians and specialists trained outside Canada.
All physicians practising medicine in Ontario must be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Your first step should be to review the CPSO pathways and complete the Self-Screening Questionnaire through the CPSO Portal. CPSO assesses credentials directly for Ontario registration.

Incentives for Rural and Remote Communities
The objective of the Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI) is to attract physicians to establish a full-time practice in eligible underserviced communities.
The NRRRI offers taxable financial recruitment incentives to each eligible physician who establishes a full-time practice in an eligible community of the province. The grants range between $84,851 and $124,730 paid over a four-year period. The financial recruitment incentives will be awarded based on eligibility criteria and considerations related to total NRRRI budget allocations.
