The Southern Ontario Physician Recruitment Alliance (SOPRA) celebrates its first year of collaboration with 17 members dedicated to sharing resources and costs to enhance recruitment services for our communities. Over the past year, the organization has successfully attended 10 career fairs and increased physician leads by over 800 candidates. SOPRA’s job board currently lists more than 107 vacancies across Southern Ontario, excluding the Greater Toronto Area.

“As one of the five Alliances under the Ontario Physician Recruitment Alliance (OPRA), we aim to shift the focus of physician recruitment from a competitive community approach, where we traditionally worked independently to attract doctors, to a collaborative, candidate-focused strategy. This approach allows us to communicate more effectively, share best practices, and exchange candidate leads based on preferences. A new doctor in Ontario is a win for Ontario,” said Jill Croteau, SOPRA Chair.
